Just after the Grand Prix of Greece, the MAXXIS FIM EWC will be in Turkey for the first time. On September 4/5, Fethiye will welcome in the South West of Turkey the 7th and just before the last event of the 2010 season.
Not much information were given to riders about this event who will discover the track during the training this week.
Around this seaside resort on the Mediterranean a track of 90 kilometers long will have to be covered three times each day. The tradition of Enduro in Turkey is still recent but the organizer and the Turkish Motorcycling Federation are really enjoyed to welcome the Enduro World Championship and its riders.
Assistances had some troubles with time checks this weekend in SERRES…
Indeed, KTM RACING let Ivan CERVANTES and Tomas OLDRATI control 3 minutes in advance on Sunday to the detriment of the “TORO ROSSO” who lost many points for the E2 title against Mika AHOLA….
Same mistake and punishment for the Junior Jérémy JOLY (HM HONDA) who controls one minute late on Sunday whereas he was leading…. a mistake which could be for him very important in his battle with SANTOLINO (E-KTM) who did not fell many times on Sunday…
The first day of the GREECE MAXXIS GRAND PRIX was spent watching the rising stars of each category, however, this Sunday the Championship leaders decided to take destiny into their own hands. Starting with Antoine MEO (FRA-HVA) in the small bikes of Enduro 1. After abandoning the race the day before, the Frenchman maybe didn’t know as much as his opponents, but his physical energy was undeniable. A real asset because once again temperatures in Serres soared to over 40°C.
It reached record temparatures of 46°C under the motor home awnings on the first day of the Grand Prix in Greece this Saturday. Unsuprisingly, with conditions similar to that of a green house – shade was like gold dust. Yet for the leader of the ENDURO 1 group it could have been better spent. Antoine MEO (FRA-HVA) was forced to withdraw in the first lap, due to electrical problems.
In several days, EWC is back in Greece and Turkey, to finish with a wonderful final in France. Waiting for riders, promoter of EWC Alain Blanchard gives us an interview in which he is talking about the beginning of the season, his pronostics for the end of season and the evolution in Enduro.
1. Are you satisfied with these first five races?
Alain Blanchard: Without a doubt ... We had very unusual races on land with very different and changing conditions. This enabled us to offer a nice "mix" of the modern ENDURO open only to drivers complete. And hats off to the various organizers have done a superb job with the highlight of the Italian GP at LOVERE played in a wonderful stage.........
